CHESTERFIELD SOFAS

The Chesterfield sofa is still as iconic as it was centuries ago. It is in the same category as antique sofas and definitely not for everyone but in 2015 Chesterfield sofas are more en vogue than ever, you can get one in any color or texture.

Most Chesterfields are characterized by their signature one-levelness, arms and back meet at par. Of course they also wouldn't be a Chesterfield  without the intricate button tufting technique.

Originally the Chesterfield was only manufactured in leather like this red well tailored leather Chester.

Conventional as it is to have the Chester in it's original intended dimensions, variations of the same are also acceptable. This round chair sectional with deep tufted buttons is a fresh twist.

Or a camel back sofa Chesterfield, flat backs are not for everyone, contours and shapes have become acceptable too in modern day Chesterworld.

The sofa doesn't have to come with the raised curved out legs, a more contemporary leg looks just perfect for this blue Chesterfield.

A gray sofa has never looked so good, this is the kind of seat you want to take home to your dad, on his birthday, very masculine and edgy while still maintaining it's old world charm. I particularly love the nail-head detailing on the arms, pure perfection.

THERE IS A CONSOLE FOR EVERYONE

It has been eons since I last posted anything. I have been thinking about console tables a lot lately (i know that sounds weird but I have)

Console tables also known as entry tables, hallway tables or accent tables are a must-have piece in any home. You can get them in all styles and sizes. They can have storage or not while giving your space pizzaz. Display your keepsakes on the top and use the drawers if any for storage. We scoured the net for a few console styles.

This console with side slats is stylish yet simple.

Antique lovers would love this console with glass tops.

This would fit well in a shabby chic or nautical themed room.

For the drama lovers...who love drama, this kind of console gets everyone in the room talking. Nice way to casually break the ice.

More drama is not a bad thing, the designer of this was inspired by cyclones.

Art deco style rules. Who needs art with such a console?

if I was to pick any, I would pick this last one.

Saw something you like or have anything in mind, get it custom-made and tweak it to work for your style.

9 LIVES OF THE KASHA EXPEDIT

We designed this expedit-style storage system as part of our sample furniture collection. It's a hollow bookshelf. We called it kasha which is swahili for a storage chest.

This is one of the most versatile pieces of furniture anyone can own. I love to move my furniture around the house and it can be great to have a piece that can work in the kitchen, hallway, livingroom, bedroom even sometimes bathrooms... I will do a post in the future on how to use your expedit in different rooms but today I styled it in different ways to show it's versatility.

This piece is currently available on order and can be custom-made to increase size also custom-painted to suit your style.

BUTTERY YELLOW GALLERY WALL

I got inspired last year to paint a wall yellow when I was at a doctor's office. I blogged about it here : http://dassabydesign.blogspot.com/2013/09/wall-gallery-doctor-office.html So I went ahead and painted this living room space in the same color, maybe a few shades lighter or darker depending on the lighting. I love it! For the gallery wall I did a collection of some of my favorite pieces instead of the usual contemporary similar looking frames which I totally have nothing against. Here is what the wall looks like now...I will do a full post on the before, during and after soon.

Thank you for stopping by, keep it Dassa by Design.

DESIGNSPIRATIONS: GREY ON SAGEY GREEN

HAPPY 2014 everyone! I started the year on a rather not so good note, my grandpa was sick and I went over to visit. So first blog post of the year....random design inspiration from a dentists office...who by the way totally messed up my teeth( read looking for a good dentist to fix the mess soon) . It'a weird that I get inspired by doctor's receptions like in this post from sometime back  http://dassabydesign.blogspot.com/2013/09/wall-gallery-doctor-office.html  I love the two colors combined together, I took a few pics...

That's it for tonight! Have a fabulous day/ night.

BUILD IT YOURSELF - HOW TO BUILD A STORE BOUGHT SWIVEL BARSTOOL

I love store bought furniture, they are convenient and mostly always almost easy to assemble with no knowledge whatsoever on furniture construction.  I built a barstool to accompany another existing lonely barstool. All you need is a toolbox, in some cases the furniture comes with an Allen wrench that you can use to tighten the screws and bolts. I got the stool from Bed Bath and Beyond This took 15 minutes to do, it was very easy. PS: I once worked at Bed Bath and Beyond for maybe 6 months it is my 5th most favorite store(with coupons) after IKEA, Homegoods, Crate and Barrel and Loft. Here's how my building went...

My toolbox, I did not need it for this project. The Allen wrench worked fine.

The swivel came in a separate package,

Took out all parts from box,

Go over the instructions to see what bolts go where,

 Step one, assemble the legs.

Screw in the bolts and washers.

Attach the swivel mechanism,

Attach the bottom legs,

Attach the seat,

Finally attach the backrest and you are good to go, happy seating!

KITCHEN COLLECTIBLES

I think this post is coming from a confused-I-don't-know-what-is going-on-anymore place. The tomboy in me is finally getting a rare fascination with kitchen stuff, the thing is I only "feel" like cooking a few times a year, the rest of the times I fake fatigue or illness so I can get out of it. I love collecting cute stuff nevertheless, so here goes.

I got this chop and lift knife thing 1.5 years ago, I just opened it yesterday, yay! It might take another year or 2 before I use it but I will use it someday, right after I google what it actually does.

Next are these two engraved Wolfgang Puck huge spoons, if you are into "high-cuisine" you have probably heard of Wolfgang Puck. ( I bet if there's high-fashion there could be high-cuisine.no?). They are never polished but I still love them. I wouldn't have bought them if they were not engraved, they were an impulse I-gotta-have-this buy.

This set of knives was a gift, only used 2 so far.

I have no idea what this is, got it in a set of 3. It looks like a huge coaster, am guessing for a hot pot or a hot pan. Also got it 2 years ago, never used but will be used soon.

This peeler from IKEA, I love IKEA stuff, yet to be used.

This cutlery holder also from IKEA, I love stainless steel I will buy anything made from stainless steel.

These I bought because they were too cute, my spices will go there.

My set of "anything jars".... I only bought them only because they said "set of anything".

These cups, I got them from Tuskys, I picked one of every print to have them all mixed up instead of the usual way.

And lastly, IKEA fishies ice cube tray...fish cubes anyone?

That's it from my stash of cute collectibles...other people may call me a hoarder but it is what it is, if it's cute I have got to have it!

Have a lovely weekend,

Till next post,

MINI FACELIFT FOR A GUEST BEDROOM

Guest room clean out and mini face lift! This room was neglected. It needed a little TLC.

I took pics in bits since I wasn't able to capture the whole room with all the light from the window.

Create an interesting focal point on one side since the bed rests on one wall as in this case. Also the room is small so a nightstand on either side of the bed was not going to happen.

Monochrome color pallet of beiges, olives, tans with hints of wine red were used.

I bought this oil painting for the wall but floor worked just fine.

The vintage pebble mini stool is a collectible more for outdoor than indoor.

An up close of the lamp, don't you just love the base? The light from the window is a bummer though. A book on the nightstand is also a great idea if the guests are readers.

The bed all made up.

End of post, your guests will sure enjoy their stay.
